Danes take on the Wattles Warriors
The Danes took to the field on June 6, against country counterparts, this time travelling to Clifton to battle it out with Wattles.
Some tough, competitive rugby league was the order of the day with a win in Under 18s, a loss in Reserve Grade and another nail biter in A Grade.

A GRADE
On a great afternoon for footy, the Danes exploded out of the blocks the Warriors and scored three tries in the opening 15 minutes, all to Harry Cooke.
Possession began to swing towards the end of the first half and Wattles were able to score three tries of their own to lead 18-14 at the break.
Unperturbed by the half time deficit, the Danes began the second stanza in a hurry, earning a repeat set which resulted in a try to Brett Wilson.
Similar to the first half, possession swung back and forth and Wattles got out to a 34-26 lead with a little over six minutes remaining.
Brett Wilson crossed for a second try to cut the deficit to just two, but the siren came too soon and the Danes came agonisingly close yet again- going down 34-32.
Best for the Danes were Tom O’Sullivan and Harry Cooke who had his best game for the Danes in one of his many seasons in the red and green.

RESERVE GRADE
Our boys took their time to realise they had a game to play, allowing Wattles to score quickly after absent minded errors.
With the amount of cheap possession handed over to Wattles, the Danes were lucky to still be in the game at half-time.
The second half started much the same as the first, with Pittsworth’s lack of training and fitness exposed by repeated errors coming out of our end.
Wattles scored at will in the back end of the second half, with the final score Wattles 44, Pittsworth 12.
Jai Klein received players’ player and was well supported by Darb Manktelow and Josh Lee.

UNDER 18s
We visited Wattles and a credit to the young Warriors short on numbers put up a good fight against our young Danes.
Warriors opened the scoring and our lack of professionalism and maturity pre game really showed.
Once we decided to begin our game we played with confidence and to a structure that saw us get out to 18 to 6.
Our lack of discipline got the better of us after completing our first six sets of the game, we began pushing passes and giving up good field position.
The second half saw more of our ill-disciplined play but when the time mattered we stuck to structure and got ourselves enough points to seal the game.
Let’s keep the faith and continue to push harder then ever this week training is a must as we begin to tighten the screws and hopefully produce some of our best footy for the year ahead.

The Club faces some very important games in the coming weeks and the support of the faithful will hold us in good stead for victory.
Effort is rarely questioned by Danes players but it all starts on the training paddock so let that be the yardstick as we progress through the mid season.
