Danes debut Indigenous jerseys
Following the recent NAIDOC celebrations, the Danes debuted their Indigenous jerseys last weekend, designed by local artist Clay Dempsey.
Dempsey, who plays for the Under 19 side, also designed the jerseys for the Indigenous round in 2023.
The Danes were up against Highfields Eagles on the weekend who currently hold ninth position on the Toowoomba Rugby League (TRL) ladder.
Despite Highfields being considered the underdogs, the Danes suffered all round losses.
Prior to the game, a minute’s silence was held for the late Des Hohn and Robert Potts.
A GRADE
Danes 18 - Highfields 24
Pittsworth started well, scoring in the opening minutes of the game.
The next 25 minutes was a grinding affair with both sides completing well.
The Eagles gained the ascendency through this period with smart finishes to their sets and took a 10-4 lead into the sheds at half-time.
The second half was a high quality game, however it was Highfields coming out on top with goal kicking ultimately the difference.
Kyle Brose was constantly dangerous and deputised well when called on to shift to fullback.
Liam Short continued posing a threat as the try-scoring back-rower dotted down for another double.
We wish Laurie Jocumsen all the best with his recovery.
Next up, the Danes make the trip to Oakey to take on the Bears.

RESERVE GRADE
Danes 14 - Highfields 22
A disappointing performance on Sunday resulted in a loss to the travelling Highfields team.
In a game that we needed to win, once again we failed to turn up and put our best foot forward when it counted.
Continuous dropping of the ball, poor play making decisions and lazy defence were the only consistencies in our game.
Another sensational try off a kick to the illustrious Luke Hill was a rare highlight.
Players votes went to the reliable Jordan Fraser-Bellette, captain Matthew Reynolds and a mention to the Under 19s who played up, Charlie Brown and Lachlan Thompson.

UNDER 19
Danes 20 - Highfields 30
The day started well with the boys showing plenty of enthusiasm in both defence and attack.
Although Highfields took the lead early, we ground back into the game with a beautiful try in the corner for Travis Gibbs, and a Clay Dempsey special intercept to run the field.
Going into the sheds Highfields took the lead.
The second half was another tough affair with both sides muscling up.
We regained the lead with some great line running off the hip of Brosey to Beersy and Gus.
Unfortunately, Highfields took the lead in the second half to come out the winners.
Great determination lads, although we didn’t get the win it would have been the best game we played all year.
