Community Chest brings up two years
The Bernborough Tavern’s Community Chest raffle marked its second anniversary at the Lions Club last Tuesday, having raised over $14,000 in funds for community groups in the Oakey district.

Lions Club President Lois Thorne said the donation was warmly appreciated and would be used to fund a shelter for the club’s trailer, as well as to assist with insurance costs.
The occasion marked two years since the Bernborough Tavern started the Community Chest concept.
Owner Michael Carpenter said the idea came from when he had worked at an establishment in Pittsworth.
Community Chest Raffle coordinator John Webster said the Community Chest has invested in 24 groups across the community since its beginnings in July 2021.
The addition of the Saturday raffle to the Community Chest takings can be seen in 2023.
