Clifton’s own community garden taking shape
Darling Downs Christian Life Centre (DDCLC), in conjunction with its charitable arm, Clifton Community Care, has started a free-to-use community garden next to its premises on the corner of Kates and Clark streets.
Church members Ryan Barnes and his wife Crystal are behind the project.
There are currently seven raised garden beds installed and ready to use, with ample room available to place more if there is demand.

Mr Barnes said his wife had the idea for the community garden at the start of last year.
Since then, they worked to receive funding which was secured by November.
Mr Barnes said the overall goal and hope of the community garden is to provide a way for people in the community to get to know each other.
“People will be able to meet, greet and help each other out,” he said.
Although nothing has been planted yet, they are anticipating to grow fruit and vegetables that can be shared.
There is no membership fee and DDCLC will be covering expenses, including insurance and equipment.
Mr Barnes said there has already been interest from a community group.
Some may remember Clifton Community Care as they used to hold Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
The community garden will be kicking off in February on Friday the 10th.
The proper launch will be on the Sunday, 12 February, at 4pm, including a barbecue.
