Clifton’s museum brings back memories
A group of young retirees from St. Thomas More’s Church in South Toowoomba had a nostalgic trip down memory as they went on a guided tour of Clifton’s Historical Museum before taking lunch at O’Shanley’s Irish Hotel.
The group of more than twenty was expertly guided along the museum’s exhibits by Historical Society member Linda Nicholas whose expert commentary was much appreciated by the visitors.
The group from St. Thomas More’s church has a regularly organised day’s excursion together as one member of the group decides the venue and itinerary for the whole group.
The Clifton Museum proved to be an excellent choice as they enjoyed the walk back in time viewing a variety exhibits of life in years gone by.
The museum’s display of the evolution of communications technology over the last century certainly brought about many comments.
Ex-school teacher Bob Whittaker enjoyed being able to reminisce over the museum’s 1950s style classroom and members of the group commented on how schools have changed so dramatically.
While older people enjoy the nostalgia of the museum children of all ages would find a visit to the museum an eye opening experience.
Well done Clifton Historical Society.
