The works began on Monday, November 15, although they were originally meant to begin earlier.

A Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) spokesperson said the works were scheduled to start on 8 November 2021, but were delayed by the recent wet weather.

“We are rehabilitating about 11 kilometres starting 500 metres west of King Street, to make the surface smoother in preparation for a bitumen reseal later,” the spokesperson said.

“The rehabilitation works are expected to be completed by 17 December, weather permitting.

“We will then return before the end of March next year (2022) to lay a final bitumen seal.”

The funding for this work was confirmed in July this year by Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey following a question asked by Member for Condamine Pat Weir in Parliament.
