Clifton High rocks

International musicians The Foo Fighters, Green Day and Tina Turner all came to Clifton State High School... or at least their high school imitators did for the school’s Battle of the Bands competition.

The Jets were judged to be simply the best on the day.
The Jets were judged to be simply the best on the day.

School has never been this much fun as the whole school became a rock concert audience.

The Battle of the Bands concluded the school’s 2023 Queensland Mental Wellness Week festivities, which included a barbecue breakfast, a cookie and a chat, fitness and trivia.

Three rock bands performed with each band presenting three charts.

First to perform was the Jets and what an opening the band gave the school with its cover of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best”.

Vocalist Taylor did Tina Turner proud as she  presented a very polished performance and was well supported by Josh on bass guitar, Evie on drums and teacher Alex Calligan assisted on guitar.

Two year nine boys called themselves the Spotted Cows and rocked the school with their Green Day number “On Holiday”.

Ethan on drums gave a smashing performance and guitarist Clay could fill in any time for rock band Green Day.

Two Year Twelve boys with only a few days of school left were known as “Boys to Men” and this was a great way for them to say goodbye to the school.

All performers were winners on the day as they provided entertainment for the whole school.

The Jets was named as the best band.

Great credit must go to the music teachers and other staff members who assisted in the organisation as they seemed to enjoy themselves just as much as the students.

Well done teachers!

School was never this much fun in days gone by.
