Ciesiolka tries put Broncos on top

Days after visiting Oakey for NAIDOC celebrations, locally raised Brisbane Bronco Shenae Ciesiolka scored two tries to help her club seal the NRLW Minor Premiership.

For the third game in a row, the Broncos came from behind to win, with Ciesiolka’s tries on the right edge matched by one from cousin and Brisbane hooker Jada Ferguson with a dart from dummy-half.

Both family members were named in the NRL Team of the Week.

Speaking with the Oakey Champion last week, Cieisiolka acknowledged her side’s tendency towards slow starts.

“It does seem to be a bit of a trend for us,” she said.

“For us, it’s about trusting in the process. (Coach Scott Prince) has had us running the same structures we’ve had all year.”

Ciesiolka said she’s proud to see cousin Ferguson come along in leaps and bounds this year.

“It’s awesome (watching her improvement),” she said.

“It’s the fittest she’s ever been.

“She’s carrying a lot more confidence and backing herself a little bit more.”

The Broncos play the Sharks in a knock-out semi-final this Sunday at 2pm.
