At Clifton, members participated in the “Sconversation” on Thursday, 11th August, the date upon which the first QCWA meeting was held in 1922.

On that date, the Queensland Country Women’s Association was formed at a meeting called by Brisbane Women’s Club supported by Sir Matthew Nathan GCMG, Governor of Queensland.

Mrs J. H. (Ruth B.) Fairfax of Cambooya was foundation President and Miss Marjorie Scholefield, Honorary Secretary.

Membership cost 5/- per annum.

The celebration saw Clifton QCWA members distributing scones to various businesses and organisations around town, as well as hosting morning tea at their Clark Street Rest Rooms.
