Celebrations For Matthew
The Allora Community, in collaboration with Southern Downs Regional Council, invites everyone to take to the streets in celebration as we welcome home our local Olympic hero, Matthew Denny.
The date is set for Friday 4 October with clapping and cheering to start from 2 o’clock.
Here are the details -
2:00pm Street Parade - will travel along Warwick Street then right into Herbert Street, concluding with presentation and formalities at the Allora Regional Sports Museum. There are plenty of good vantage points along the way.
Let’s deck out in the green and gold or with any special outfit for a bit of fun.
3:30pm Good old-fashioned afternoon tea in The Allora Community Hall including Q. & A. Session with Matt.
To add to the excitement the Allora Advertiser is sponsoring a special competition for all school-aged children.
It’s the Best Matt Denny Poster competition. We’ll see who can create the best Matt Denny poster to be seen in the parade.
Winners will be announced at the afternoon tea in the Allora Community Hall.
Matthew knows Allora likes to party so let’s show him a really good time.
