The Cambooya Public Hall has taken on a new lease of life after undergoing some extensive repairs across recent months.

Following a major renewal of the exterior, Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee Chair Cr James O’Shea said the hall was back open to the public with the project now complete.

The refurbishment project was completed at a cost of $260,000.

“Our community halls are so valuable to our regional areas,” Cr O’Shea said.

“They’re the cornerstone of activity and as such, it’s important we continue to invest in facilities like this.

“The Cambooya Public Hall is a well-used facility which was starting to look a bit rundown so I’m pleased to see it receive a makeover.”

Cr O’Shea said the refurbishment included exterior painting, replacement of the roof sheeting and where necessary, the roofing structure was replaced, as well as the replacement of a small amount of timber cladding to the exterior of the building.

“When completing the works our staff and building contractor made sure we preserved the historic features of the building,” he said.

The Cambooya Public Hall is located on the corner of Gore and Harrow Streets and is available for hire for weddings, functions and recreational activities.
