Busy Easter for equestrian
Pittsworth showgrounds were bustling as the Darling Downs Showjumping Club (DDSJC) hosted its annual Championships.

After two years of Covid cancellations, interest was high with riders coming from far and wide, from Ingham in North Queensland through to central New South Wales.
Around 250 temporary yards were set up in the days prior to the event, before dozens of massive rigs, set up for humans and horses, drove in for the weekend.
DDSJC president Des Hilet said the four day event had attracted 2000 entries from more than 200 riders, vying for a share of $20,000 prizemoney, supplemented by trophies.
The feature event, the Peter Mullins Grand Prix, offered $5,000 in prizemoney, with Gemma Creighton taking out the $1,500 purse for first place.
Over the four days, competition was held simultaneously in two adjacent rings to complete the busy program.
The weekend’s fine mild conditions were a blessing for organisers, riders and horses.
Mr Hilet thanked all the local businesses who had supported the event.
He also thanked the campdraft association, which had helped out in numerous ways.
Alongside commercial caterers, Club Pittsworth volunteers and helpers ran a canteen for each of the four days.
