The Bears women have qualified for their first ever shot at silverware with a dominant performance over Dalby.

Gatton’s win in their corresponding match meant that the two sides will play off for the President’s Cup final, played between the two teams on top of the ladder at the midway point of the season.

Centre Clarissa Janes scored four tries in a standout performance.

Coach Eddie Dean said Janes had a point to prove after missing out on Clydesdales selection last year.

“She’s improved a lot this year,” he said.

“I reckon she’s class.”

With a win likely, Coach Eddie experimented by putting winger Bina McLachlan at full-back.

“I wanted to see how another girl played at full-back,” he said.

“She’s really good - safe.”

“Just in case anything happens next week, we are covered.”

Men’s A Grade

Dalby 48 def. Oakey 10

A Chris Woodbridge masterclass steered Dalby to an emphatic win over Oakey 48-10 at Trevor Mickleborough Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Woodbridge gave such a grand display.

He scored four tries and set up a number of raids that saw his team dominate throughout the match.

Oakey rallied just after half time with two quick good individual tries to Kamiti Vetemotu and Faletoese Faletoese and they looked good but their nemesis was their mistakes in turning possession over
to the Diehards.

After Oakey got to 10-18, Woodbridge lifted a gear and they scored six tries to take out the match 48-10.

Multiple players will be thanking their lucky stars that there will no games next weekend after they picked up injuries.

Former A-Grader Dylan Adamson was the standout performer for the Bears, scoring two tries.

Coach Laurie Stewart said his side wasn’t two far off the mark.

“When you have injuries against a quality side, they’re going to hurt you,” he said.

“We’re going to reset and I’m really looking forward
to the second half of the season.”
