And music certainly swelled through the main auditorium for over an hour, delighting the audience of some 130 family members, friends and supporters.

The concert showcased a heart-warming mix of ages with young primary school children, teenagers and adults exuding the joy of making music together.

The 40-strong band was conducted by Alan Cheetham, who guided the program through a musical journey from the 1960s to the 2020s, with numerous players able to showcase their individual virtuosity on drums, saxophone, flute and more.

Local a cappella group Singsationals provided a choral interlude of four songs midway through the program.

Their voices have also risen to nine women and three men.

Both the band and the singers will be involved with the visiting Queensland Symphony Orchestra ensemble this week.

Apart from offering opportunities to musicians of all ages, Black Inc, now in its 23rd year, continues Pittsworth’s proud musical tradition, which stretches back to well before formation of the town’s first band in 1897.

Last week’s concert was followed by supper, much conversation and fellowship.
