Guests enjoyed a delicious spread for morning tea, including many cakes, slices, sandwiches and scones.

Clifton Senior Citizens Treasurer and event co-ordinator Alice McKenzie said over $1,000 had been raised for the Cancer Council before the morning tea had even begun.

By the end of the day, over $2,300 had been raised.

“That is a fantastic amount,” Ms McKenzie said.

“Obviously the community supported us in many ways.”

Ms McKenzie and her daughter Tracey Brooker, who is a member of the Clifton QCWA, did fundraising at O’Shanley’s Pub which raised $600 to be spent on raffle prizes.

Many local businesses were also kind enough to provide donations, including the Clifton Jam Factory, Gillies Meats, Binnie Bowe Boutique and Ruby T Gift Shop.

Fellow community groups also provided donations, including the Clifton Lions and the Clifton and District Progress Association.

Individual Clifton Senior Citizens Club members donated prizes and money, including one member who donated $50.

In total, there were 56 prizes distributed among the guests.

All the food provided as part of morning tea was brought in by attendees.

Local Member for Condamine Pat Weir was in attendance and donated the lucky door prizes.
