Oakey were just hitting their stride, when the game was effectively ended with 20 minutes to go due to an injury to Brothers’ player Will Mortimer.
Bears full-back Dylan Goodchild was man-of-the-match for his team with a consistent performance across the board at the back.
Coach Laurie Stewart said Goodchild was part of an emerging crop of players from last year’s Under 19s who were starting to make their mark in reserve grade.
“He’s been improving week-in, week-out this season,” he said.
Brayden Schilf will play five-eighth for the rest of the season after Dylan Crump was ruled out following an injury against Wattles.
