Queensland Barrel Racing Association’s event on Saturday attracted around 130 senior riders and forty junior riders, aged between ten and sixteen years.

There were also races for a handful of Under ten and Under five riders, the latter having an adult lead the horse around the course.

One competitor was just two years old, having an additional adult ensuring saddle and rider stayed together.

Competitors came from as far afield as Peak Crossing in the east, Warwick in the south, Kingaroy in the north and Taroom and Chinchilla in the west.

The one-day Pittsworth Double Jackpot began with practice runs at 8.30am preceding competition at 10am, and ended not long after 3 o’clock in very light drizzle.

Last weekend was the third time the Pittsworth Campdraft Association has run the event, with two more barrel races scheduled here in 2022, in June and August.

Finals of the six-month season are scheduled for late September.
