The school’s Science and Engineering team and its Media Communications team were each Regional winners which put them into the State Finals of Division 1 (Primary Schools) in Brisbane.
School principal Lara Waters said both teams were amazing at State level and the Science and Engineering team was judged to be the best in Queensland in its category.
The pressure was on in Brisbane - at the Regional level, the teams had six weeks to come up with solutions to their challenge, but in Brisbane they were allowed just three hours to complete the “long term” challenge, then ten minutes to come up with a solution for their “spontaneous” challenge.
Opti-MINDS helps the students to develop team work, communication, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity.
