Art group to receive 11k from grant fund
Pittsworth Art Group is one of 634 community groups to benefit from a share of $16 million under round 118 of the Gambling Community and Benefit Fund (GCBF).
The fund has distributed more than $1.158 billion in community grants since its inception in 1994.
The Pittsworth Art Group has received $11,766.65 from the GCBF.
The money will be used to purchase audio visual equipment.
Executive member of the group, Jean Caesar, explained that the money will go toward a camera, projector and big screen TV.
This will enable students to view art tutorials clearly, and without the tutor having to always face the audience.
Ms Caesar said the group relies on grants and donations to keep it running, as painting sales do not provide enough income.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Yvette D’Ath said the GCBF provides a significant funding boost for thousands of local clubs and not-for-profit organisations each year so they can continue supporting and working for Queensland’s communities.
“Their input into our communities is inspirational and the benefits often reach well beyond the immediate recipients,” she said.
“Any groups thinking about improving, upgrading or expanding their services are encouraged to keep an eye on the website for the next round of funding.”
