Arrests after gunpoint robbery
A man and a woman have been arrested after robbing an Oakey fuel station at gunpoint and making off with cash on Monday afternoon.
A 28-years-old man and a 27-years-old woman, both from Rockville, have been charged in relation to an armed robbery at the Puma service station on Monday afternoon.
It’s alleged the pair entered the Puma service station shortly after 3pm and threatened two cashiers with a rifle.
One cashier was forced to hand over the till, which did contained a small amount of money, before the pair fled in a white Commodore sedan.
Police tracked the vehicle across the district through the afternoon to Toowoomba.
The Holden Commodore allegedly crashed into the rear of a Volkswagen Tiguan on Ruthven Street, Toowoomba around 5.10pm.
Police then located the vehicle parked on Campbell Street, Newtown around 5.20pm.
The driver allegedly rammed a police vehicle and attempted to flee, crashing into a fence on nearby Mary Street, where they were then taken into custody.
The Rockville man was charged with 13 offences, including stealing, dangerous operation of a vehicle, evasion, armed robbery, unlawful possession of weapon and driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.
His female accomplice has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The pair appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday (16 May).
