Appeal for public assistance following cattle theft, Tarome
Police are investigating the alleged theft of eight Droughtmaster cows between June and November 2021 from a cattle property at Tarome, South East Queensland.
Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) at Forest Hill have confirmed that the eight stolen cattle were in calf to a Charolais bull, and most likely had calves at foot when they were stolen.
Detectives are invest-igating a number of leads, including if the cattle were moved onto a neighbouring property, before being loaded onto a truck and transported.
Police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and road cameras, while investigations are also being conducted at sale yards and abattoirs.
All eight cows were branded as shown below.
Detective Sergeant Troy Whittle from MOCS (Rural) Forest Hill urged anyone with information to come forward to assist the investigation.
“Cattle theft is a deplorable act that has devastating effects on the victim,” Detective Sergeant Whittle said.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers in the hope the cattle can be recovered and returned to the owner.”
