ANZAC Day locally
ANZAC Day on Monday will begin with a series of Dawn Services ahead of the main commemorations later in the morning.
At Westbrook, the annual Dawn Service will begin at 5.30am at the Westbrook Community Hall “Digger” Memorial.
The service lasts for about 30 minutes.
A second special Centenary Service will start at 2.30pm sharp.
Representatives of all levels of Government, as well as representatives of the R.S.L will be in attendance and deliver speeches.
The plan is to re-create the original unveiling of Westbrook’s “Digger” who will have stood for 100 years on ANZAC Day 2022.
A fly-past has been requested but this is subject to aircraft availability on the day.
The Drayton ANZAC Day Parade will start at 7.20am from the Drayton Memorial Hall, ending at the Drayton Soldiers Memorial Park where the Service will begin at 7.20am and conclude at approximately 8am.
At Greenmount, the march will descend from the top of Ramsay Street and conclude at Bicentenary Park where the service will start at 10am.
The day begins at Clifton with a Dawn Service at the Cenotaph on Edward Street from 5.30am, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Senior Citizens’ Centre.
The annual march of ex-service personnel and R.S.L. members will assemble at Meara Place from 10.30am, and traverse the business block of King Street to arrive at the Cenotaph for the official service at 11am.
Toowoomba will see a Dawn Service at the Mothers’ Memorial at 5.30am with the main service, also at the Mothers’ Memorial, from 9am.
Local schools are also recognising ANZAC Day in their own way.
Emu Creek State School has a service at 2.15pm on Friday near a poppy garden with the poppies created by students.
The community can attend.
