Another step up for Clifton Ambulance

Facilities offered by the Queensland Ambulance Service to the area served from the Clifton Ambulance Station have taken another step forward with a new state-of-the-art ambulance vehicle put into service in the local fleet this week.

Clifton Ambulance Officer in Charge Chris Fulton with Paramedic Bella Proctor gave the new 4WD Mercedes Sprinter ambulance vehicle an airing in Clifton’s main street.

The new Mercedes Sprinter is a four-wheel-drive (4WD) unit and replaces an ageing Land Cruiser which had been part of the Clifton Ambulance fleet for well over a decade.

It’s the third new ambulance to be put into service at Clifton in the last four years, which is testament to the way in which local staff look after their equipment.

Being a 4WD vehicle it is higher than the other ambulances and therefore will be able to access some of the more difficult territory in the local area.

The most up-to-date equipment available is contained in the vehicle which is a great asset for the protection of the local community.

Even though there is a stack of life saving equipment on board, the space and comfort is amazing.

Up front, the driving compartment looks like “mission control” with a series of two-way radio facilities along with a satellite phone.

The new ambulance collected its first patient, Max Bell, from the Clifton Nursing Home on Monday.
