Allora’s Queensland Champion Reign Continues
The Allora Swim Team successfully com-peted in Brisbane on the 12/13th February at the QLD Swimming Sprint Championships. Qualify-ing standards are set by Swimming Qld and swimmers compete at meets across the region during the summer with many swimmers aiming to achieve these qualifying standards. Allora had a total of 32 swimmers reach qualifying, one third of our entire club, and were most pleased with the efforts of the 26 swimmers who were able to attend this state-based event.
For many younger swimmers this is their first State experience and the Chandler Complex is a much larger stage to perform upon. Our congratulations are extended to our ten-year-olds competing for the first time: Sophie Day, Michaela Kynaston, Ruby Paterson, Paige Priebbenow, Sam Stenzel and Charlotte Stevens.
Many of our more experienced swimmers also competed and we congratulate the following swimmers on their great performances: Savannah Butler, Emma Day, Will Day, Nicholas Denny, Claire Eckersley, Katelyn Fischer, Imogen Fox, Chloe Harm, Bridie Hutchison, Ellyse Kruger, Nicholas Mcgahon, Ellyn Moore, Lily Osborne, Will Peters, Sofia Schramm, Alyssa White and Jett White. It is an honour to represent your region and your club at this level.
Allora had two athletes competing in the Multi Class division at the Qld Sprints. Harrison Dangerfield sec-ured the reserve finalist position for the 50m Backstroke. Aiden Brown secured the same position for the 50m Breaststroke. Both Aiden and Harry had a great first-time experience, and we know they will both be hungry to chase a finals berth at State level in the years ahead. This was an exceptional achievement for these up-and-coming swimmers who have enjoyed a season of success with the Allora Swimming Club.
Our Club Congratulations are extended to Allora’s reigning State Champion Bailey Harm, who had a most successful outing. Bailey took the Gold medal swim in the 13 years 50m Breaststroke to be named QLD Sprint Champion for the third consecutive year. Bailey qualified for all four final swims, also securing the State Silver in the 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke, swimming those finals only minutes apart. Bailey also placed 5th in the final of the 50m Butterfly. Bailey swam new personal best times all under National Qualifying standards, adding to his tally of 6 events that he will now swim at the National Age Championships in Adelaide in April.
The Allora Swimming Club will turn out in numbers at the local and regional school meets before competing at the Darling Downs Regional Swimming Championships in Toowoomba over the first weekend in March. We are most excited to be fielding a solid team for this event who will be involved in the March Past and Relays as well as vying for a fantastic finale to our efforts at meets across the Darling Downs this season.
