BURNOUT DOESN’T IMPRESS LOCALS

On Sunday 9th June, a visiting “motoring enthusiast” decided to show off outside a local hotel, by performing a loud & lengthy burnout in Warwick Street, Allora.

Thanks to a local business and the assistance of several local people who witnessed the incident and came forward, the vehicle and offender were identified.

A 52yr old Pilton man has now been caught up with by Allora Police and ticketed for his misdemeanor; the offence of willfully driving a vehicle to make unnecessary noise or smoke.

This will cost him $495, 2 demerit points and his prize, restored vehicle “immobilised” (put off the road) for the next 3 month period.

There’s no need, no room and no tolerance will be shown for that sort of unnecessary and disturbing behaviour in our beaut’ little town.

DRIVER WELL OVER LEGAL LIMIT

On Tuesday 25th June, a 27yr old Glengallan man was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of liquor (UIL).

Shortly after 2pm that afternoon, residents in the Willowvale area had reported their concerns to Police, regarding the strange behaviour of an unknown man in his white sedan, entering various properties in the area. Police from Warwick and Allora were dispatched with Allora Officers locating the car in Reids Road.

Upon subsequent breath analysis conducted the male returned a result of 0.244% (almost 5 times the legal limit).  He was additionally charged with unlicensed driving.

While the intentions otherwise of this particular gentleman were determined not untoward with respect to his being in the area, the response of local residents in noting and reporting this strange activity are to be commended.

ROAD SAFETY SHOULD BE TOP OF MIND

Statewide Queensland Police traffic Operation “Whiskey Cold Snap” will conclude after the 1st school week back, ends on Friday 12th July.

The operation commenced at the start of the June / July school holiday period with view to ensuring a higher Police presence on all major roads and highways, with road safety, enforcement and education of motorists the key.

Unfortunately, the local district did suffer a fatality on Friday afternoon 28th June, with a crash on Owen’s Scrub Road on Leyburn’s outskirts, causing  the death of a young 18 year old man from Warwick.

Local Police urge all drivers, locals, visitors and travellers alike, to drive to the conditions each and every single time – please!
