Allora Loves Matthew, Matthew Loves Allora
Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist and local hero Matthew Denny never forgets his home town of Allora.

During an interview on Channel 7 Matthew said “Hello to everyone back in Allora. Thank you Allora for supporting me” and to John - “Dad we got it done, Mate!”
During one interview he made reference to the Welcome Home Parade after Tokyo when he came 4th so maybe this time Allora will be given a public holiday?
Matthew threw his personal best in the Discus with a throw of 67.26 metres, over 2 metres further than the silver medallist England’s Lawrence Okoye.
Matthew has become a real favourite around the world not only for his win but also for his fun, happy- go-lucky nature. And who could forget that run? After his victory, Matthew dashed down the track at top speed inside Alexander Stadium, soaking in the special moment and delighting the crowd.
Matthew claimed he’d never seen his legs move that quickly but couldn’t hide his elation. “I have never run a 300 so fast (in the victory lap), I got a bit gassed on the last bend but I will learn to kick at the end for next time,” he said. (as one commentator said “I thought his thighs were going to burst!”)
“I am over the moon, it’s been great. I thought I had 68m there but coulda, woulda, shoulda, I threw it pretty high on that last one but I was over the moon I replicated on that last one even though you could have gone and packed it in.”
“But I wanted to make that statement again and finish off that series. This is my first senior title other than world unis, you live for these moments.”
