Allora Community Hall Not Available For Hire
Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) has banned the use of Allora Community Hall due to structural issues.
A local businessman wanted to use our Hall for an event in July but upon contacting Council he was told it’s not available for hire at this stage with no firm date on when it can be used.
No reason was given by the Council.
The Allora Advertiser contacted the Council to find out why our Hall is unavailable, what is happening and when can it be used. “People are wanted to hold functions in our Hall but cannot do so. We need to know the reason,” we asked.
This is the reply received from a spokesman for SDRC -
“Due to structural issues and safety concerns, the Allora Community Hall is not currently available for public hire.
Council is working to resolve these issues and hopes to have the hall available as soon as it is safe to do so. The community’s safety is Council’s number one priority.”
