The afternoon consisted of celebrating the 2024 season and launching the 2025 entrants.

Pittsworth Show Society President, Paul Fuhlbhom, gave a welcome and brief update on the latest news and future events.

Showgirl and Rural Ambassador Co-ordinator, Amanda Riehl, said in recent years the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador Awards have shifted their focus from fundraising and being a spokesperson for the local show, to engaging entrants through volunteer work and being actively involved in the local community.

Ms Riehl is also the Show Society’s Vice President, Horse/Ring Steward, and Vice President of the Darling Down Sub Chamber.

“The Showgirl awards are aimed at recognising, developing and celebrating young female leaders in our communities, to ensure the sustainability of our communities, and Agricultural shows,” she said.

“The Rural Ambassador awards are aimed to provide an opportunity for young people to promote rural communities and industries as well as be involved in promoting the importance of agriculture and food production.”

Before moving into the launch of the 2025 season, the committee presented the 2024 Show Spirit Award to Anastazia Kingsford.

This award gives a fresh take on the Community Spirit and Miss Charity Awards which have been presented in years past.

The award was given to Ms Kingsford by Pittsworth Show Society Patron, Eddie Fuhlbohm.

“Going forward, any entrant across all four awards categories will be eligible to receive this award,” Ms Riehl said.

“Entrants that demonstrate a willingness to participate at Show Society events, not just the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador subcommittee events.

“Other community group organised events will be opportunities for entrants to promote the Show movement representing our
Show Society, and for entrants to show initiative with demonstrating their thoughts and ideas either at the planning of future events or at the show itself,” Ms Riehl said.

The 2024 Junior Showgirl, Jessica Hegarty, and Senior Showgirl, Beccy Karlisch, offered some words of wisdom about their experience as an entrant, and passed on words of encouragement to the new entrants.

There was also a fashion parade by Lilly Pilly Style Boutique.

The 2025 Showgirl entrants (so far) are: Sophie Lack, Anastazia Kingsford, Brianna Gartner.

Both Ms Kingsford and Ms Gartner were Junior Showgirl entrants for 2024.

Nominations are still open for entrants in all categories:

Showgirl - Women aged between 18 and 28 years inclusive, as of 1st August in the year of the competition.

Junior Showgirl - Girls aged between 13 and 17 years.
