Good looking gardens

The recent rain proved to be the perfect ingredient for four of Pittsworth’s blossoming gardens that were open to the public for the Showcasing Pittsworth and Surrounds weekend.

Gayle and Keith Simpson opened up their garden to the public over the weekend. They have transformed just under an acre of land into a peaceful oasis.
Gayle and Keith Simpson opened up their garden to the public over the weekend. They have transformed just under an acre of land into a peaceful oasis.

The gardens belonged to Sue Porter, Helen Avery, Gayle and Keith Simpson, and Belinda and Byron Cameron.

The Simpsons have resided in Pittsworth for 18 years, and transformed what was a bare paddock at the time of purchase, into a bountiful garden, and peaceful haven, described by Mrs Simpson as her “happy place.”

While Mrs Simpson is in charge of the gardening, Mr Simpson is tasked with the edging and hedging (and of course, the mowing!).

Ms Avery in Briggs Street said, in her garden tidiness is not a priority, but diversity is.

She enjoys experimenting with plants and considers the garden, one of her creative outlets.

The Gardens of the Downs expressed their appreciation to those who generously devoted their time, and much effort, to open their gardens to the public for the weekend.
