RESERVE GRADE

With the opportunity to play in front of a home crowd on ANZAC Day, our men turned up and put in a good performance.

An early try and then managing to finish the first half with a commanding 18-0 lead.

In much better conditions than last week, we had trouble maintaining and using the ball, bringing Newtown back into the game with a couple of tries.

The Danes eventually ran out as the winners 34-12.

Training is critical as we have a tough assignment travelling to Warwick for a traditionally difficult game.

Top player once again is Rian Cherry followed by Matty Butler, and Ryan Cattarin.

A GRADE

On what is an important day in the Australian calendar, the Danes took
on the Newtown Lions
in the 2024 ANZAC Day clash.

With numerous players unavailable, and the Danes facing a four day turnaround from their prior match, the team was wary of Lions’ side, coming off the back of a win.

The Danes struggled to play their own brand of football in the opening stanza, resulting in a poor completion rate and a failure to capitalise on a number of opportunities.

Holding a small 14-12 lead at half time, Pittsworth aimed to get back to basics in the second half.

Tom O’Sullivan was instrumental in steering the side to a 24-16 win, and was well supported by Under 19 debutant Lachlan Thompson.

Blake Cullen continues his rich vein of form, and senior players Alex Kahler and Cam Millar were also impressive.

This week the Danes face a tough road trip, as they travel to Warwick to take on the Cowboys.
